Gregory SketasWhat is your home town?

I was born in New York City, NY, but I grew up in Conway, AR.

Where did you attend medical school?

What other educational credentials do you have?

Undergraduate at the University of Central Arkansas: B.S. in Biology, B.A. in Philosophy.

What are your particular clinical interests?

I have many interests which was my primary motivation for choosing Family Medicine as a specialty, but a few of my particular interests include preventive care (especially contraception and colonoscopy), geriatrics, and palliative care. I believe that sustained relationships are critical to a meaningful life, and my goal is to have a broad skill set to be able to care for my patients over the course of a lifetime.

Why did you choose Family Medicine?

I have a lot of interests, and I see myself engaging in various focuses in the future. To this end, Family Medicine affords me versatility through its expansive scope of practice. I also hope to become a longstanding asset to a community, and I enjoy the prospect of helping people throughout their lives and their children’s lives.

Why did you choose the Little Rock Family Medicine residency program?

Multiple reasons: It’s a solid program with superior first time board passage rates. I graduated from the UAMS Medical School and saw first hand that the Family Medicine residents are treated equal to the specialty service residents. To this day I have enjoyed a comprehensive education without the prejudice that has been rumored to occur in other university-based programs with rotating FM residents. Additionally, the Little Rock FM program offers the opportunity to work with various fellowships including geriatrics and palliative care which are two of my interests.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?

Recently I’ve taken a liking to the local indoor rock climbing center. I also enjoy running, various video games and board games, and I’m currently trying to learn the piano. Also, I love trying new foods! I’m by no means a history buff, but the stories of civilizations, both past and present, have always held my fascination. I’d like to visit as many historic sites as possible in my lifetime. I’ve recently come back from a trip across Iceland, Italy, and Germany, and my next destination is Greece!
